The amount of solar power produced and the amount of revenue generated in 2016 has gone up for company SMA according to a recent report released. This reflects the widely perceived increased health of the solar industry.

This growth is coming after a exceptional year in 2016 across the solar energy sector worldwide.

The inverter output sold grew from 8.2 Gigawatts (GW) (in 2015, 7.3 GW) and the operational cash flow grew from 147.5 million euros from 102.7 million in 2015.

The release on the SMA website outlines the company’s mission for the following year including the release of a new energy management system which will help to integrate with the Internet of things (IoT).

“This year, for example, we are launching a new energy management platform that allows commercial customers to monitor energy flows across different sectors (photovoltaics, heating, ventilation and air conditioning technology, and storage systems) for the first time.”

“In developing our platform further, we will optimize total energy costs at a local level and facilitate interconnection with global IoT platforms.”

Company innovation key in solar industry
