Solar Energy in NSW: Fast Facts

Feed in Tariff:	- The state’s electricity retailers will pay 8 cents per kilowatt hour for excess renewable energy fed into the grid. The best way to save money with solar is to match the system to your daytime electricity consumption. - Find out more here.

Switchboard upgrade cost:	- Minor upgrade: approximately $200-$400 - Major upgrade: approximately $900-$1400 What’s a switchboard upgrade? Click here.

Meters:	- Approximately $400. You will need to arrange for a Level 2 Authorised Service Provider (ASP) electrical to perform your meter changeover. A list of accredited level 2 ASP’s can be found here.

Meter and FIT requirements:	- We’ll send to you Grid Connect application forms. Just check your personal details, sign them and send them to the distributors address as listed at the top of the form. Your distributor will then provide you with a confirmation or job number that your Level 2 ASP requires to collect your new meter. - Once installation is complete, the installer will lodge the necessary meter changeover documents for you. - It is your responsibility to ensure that lodge your grid connection application form and arrange a Level 2 APS electrician to change your meter over. Feed in tariff contracts (FIT) should be discussed between you and your retailer directly.
