In our first episode for 2011, Virginia covers Energy Matters' flood appeal donation, solar power systems and house fires, the Solar Flagships program saved from the chopping block and the expansion of the A.C.T's solar feed in tariff program.

In this episode:

- Energy Matters helped raise over $5,000 through a donation matching initiative for the Queensland Premier’s disaster relief appeal to assist the state's flood affected areas. Read more.

- South Australia’s Metropolitan Fire Service and Country Fire Service have released an official statement concerning how houses with solar systems will be treated in a fire situation and in doing so, extinguishing another solar power myth. Read more.

- The federal government’s Solar Flagships program will no longer be axed to help pay for the Queensland flood recovery efforts. Read more.

- The ACT’s solar feed in tariff program has been expanded to include larger solar farms and provide better access to the scheme for cooperatives, renters and community groups. Read more.
