JA Solar Adds More Solar Panel Manufacturing Capacity

JA Solar Holdings Co., Ltd. (Nasdaq:JASO) has announced it has commenced solar panel production at the company’s newest module manufacturing facility in Xingtai, Hebei province, China.

Located in Xingtai City, the facility has an annual production capacity of  1.5 GW. The new factory features fully automated assembly lines and will produce 60- and 72-cell modules; mostly using JA Solar’s high-efficiency PERCIUM cells.

The company says having panel assembly, test and measurement, stockrooms and warehouse all under the one roof will also make the facility more energy efficient.

“The grand opening of our fully automated module manufacturing facility in Xingtai marks JA Solar taking one step forward in terms of intelligent manufacturing,” said Baofang Jin, JA Solar’s Executive Chairman and CEO.

“We will keep focusing on technological innovation as well as continue to improve the performance of our products to meet our customers’ demand for high quality products.”

Last year, JA Solar shipped approximately 4 gigawatts of solar products; made up of 3,672.9 MW of solar panels and module tolling; 265.0 MW of cells and 53.5 MW of modules supplied to its downstream projects.

The company says external shipments represented an increase of 28.8% from 3.1 GW during the 2014 fiscal year.

The final quarter of last year was particularly good for JA Solar; with 1,366.2 megawatts of solar cells and panels shipped – an impressive increase of 40.5% year over year.

The company expects to ship between 5.2GW and 5.5GW of cells and solar modules during 2016.
