Energy Matters Launches Solar + Battery Storage Calculator

Solar Battery Calculator

How much could you reduce reliance on mains grid power by installing solar plus a Tesla Powerwall or Fronius Solar Battery? Energy Matters’ new user-friendly solar + battery calculator provides an estimate; plus other useful information.

One of the major benefits of installing home energy storage at this point in time is it enables PV system owners to save the high value electricity generated by their rooftop solar panels for later use; instead of exporting it to the mains grid and possibly receiving only a few cents per kilowatt for the contribution.

Depending on system configuration and  energy consumption profile, it’s very possible in a grid-connect situation to achieve up to 90% energy independence with solar and storage.

While there are some online solar + storage calculators already available, they can be very complicated to use and difficult to interpret.

Energy Matters has developed a unique, easy to use online solar + storage calculator (currently in beta) that provides interesting insights for everyone from newbies to knowbies.

To use the calculator, all that is required is a daily power consumption level or an electricity bill cost entered, plus the suburb or town and system selection. The calculator will then generate estimated performance information and graphs, such as those shown below.

Energy Matters’ expert consultants, available by calling 1800-EMATTERS, can help users of the calculator to better understand the results if required.

A large selection of solar power system sizes and two battery types are currently available in the calculator – Tesla Powerwall and Fronius Solar Battery. More will be added as other brands become part of Energy Matters’ range of energy storage solutions.

The calculations are based on an Energy Matters supplied and installed solar power + storage system. For those looking to retrofit battery storage to an existing solar PV system, the information generated during the beta release will be less accurate as usage consumption profiles are based on non-solar households.

Energy Matters is also offering commercial users and solar industry professionals, including installers, access to a Pro version of the calculator. The Pro version provides additional features such as panel orientation, feed in tariff and other financial data. Access to the Pro version can be gained by becoming an Energy Matters partner.

The solar + battery calculator was developed drawing on Energy Matters’ decade of experience of installing solar power systems and battery storage throughout Australia.

As part of its current 10th birthday celebrations, Energy Matters is offering special deals on solar power systems plus cashback offers on Tesla Powerwall. The company is also running a competition in most states, where one lucky winner will receive a fully installed Tesla Powerwall home battery system or $11,449 in cash.
