Good quality residential grid-connect battery storage solutions just became significantly cheaper.
The Samsung SDI All In One energy storage system combines a solar/battery inverter and a lithium-ion battery offering 3.6 kilowatt hour capacity.
Other similar capacity units from quality manufacturers are being sold for far more.
The Samsung SDI All In One 3.6kWh battery system has an expected service life of 6,000 cycles (at 25C), weighs just 95 kilograms and has a small footprint (100cm × 26.7cm × 68cm).
Samsung have also incorporated monitoring features and the unit can be controlled remotely via a web interface or mobile application.
The All In One comes with a 2 year product warranty and 7 year performance warranty.
Energy Matters advises that when considering the purchase of home battery systems, it’s very much a case of buyer beware – particularly in these early stages of the residential energy storage revolution.
As was (and still is to lesser degree) the case with solar panels; lithium-ion battery systems of this nature vary wildly in quality. Some manufacturers skip important steps in the production of batteries that may result in instability and a far shorter lifespan in real-world conditions than advertised.
Samsung SDI has a UL-certified in-house test lab to ensure consistent high quality and the lithium ion cells used in these systems use the same technology developed to meet the demanding requirements of electric vehicles.
Since entering the lithium-ion battery sector in 2000, Samsung SDI has established itself as a leader in the field and has ranked number one for market share since 2010 according to BR Reports.
