Siddon's started operations in Australia in the 1970's. Headed by John Siddons, son of Sidchrome Spanners' Royston Siddons; 1983 saw the launch of the 'Siddons Solar Plus' heat pump. 

From humble beginnings in a small shed at the rear of the Sidchrome factory; Siddons grew to become Quantum Energy Systems. The Siddons family sold Quantum in the late nineties and then launched the Siddons Solarstream brand. 

Featuring  a marine grade stainless steel tank, patented direct transfer technology, ozone friendly refrigerant and a cutting-edge de-icing function;  the Solarstream heat pump water heater design is now in its third generation.

Based on an average family usage using 210-240 litres per day, Siddons reports power costs to average $150 for off peak and $200 annually for continuous tariffs. Solarstream uses approximately 3 kW/h of electricity a day depending on hot water use, ambient air temperature and humidity.

Assuming air temperature is above -5°C, a Solarstream can efficiently heat water to above 60°C.

As well as being perfect in residential applications, two or more standard Siddons Solarstream units can be grouped together to handle commercial-scale hot water requirements

Easy to install, a Solarstream should take a plumber no more than 3 hours in a typical installation scenario.

Maintenance is also simple - Siddons recommends brushing or hosing down the fins at least once every 6 months and releasing the pressure and temperature relief valve once a year.

A Siddons Solarstream unit comes with a warranty of up to 10 years on the 316 stainless steel hot water storage tank; 3 years warranty on heat pump parts and 1 year warranty on labour for warranty claims.
