Farming the Sun is coordinating three community solar bulk-buys in NSW:

• Northern Rivers solar power
• New England North West solar power
• New England North West solar hot water

The purpose of our community bulk-buys is to significantly increase the understanding, affordability and take-up of solar energy technologies by making available a discounted bulk offering of high quality, solar power and hot water systems.

Farming the Sun has developed two distinct models of community solar to date. The bulk-buy model has been used for solar power, solar hot water and solar thermal heating/cooling technologies. The community investment model, as used in Lismore, is well suited to small-scale projects of up to $200,000-$500,000 in value.

Farming the Sun provides research and tools for community groups to develop solar projects. The website also has a flow chart representing the choices groups must make when installing solar, and the solutions available in the region.
