Rebates and incentives available in VIC
The following rebates, incentives, schemes, and programs are available from VIC government.
Solar Homes Program
The Solar Homes Program offers financial incentives to encourage the installation of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, battery storage, and energy-efficient hot water systems. Since its inception in 2018, the program has supported the installation of over 350,000 systems across Victorian households.
- Solar panel (PV) rebate: Eligible homeowners and rental providers can receive a rebate of up to $1,400 for installing solar panels, with the option to apply for an interest-free loan of an equivalent amount.
- Battery interest-free loans: For households that have already installed solar panels or are planning to do so, interest-free loans of up to $8,800 are available for adding battery storage systems. To qualify, applicants must have an existing or planned solar PV system with a capacity of at least 5 kW.
- Hot water rebate: The program also provides rebates for energy-efficient hot water systems, such as heat pump systems, which can cover up to 80% of the installation cost
Solar Homes Program eligibility changes from 1 July 2026
The Solar Homes Program will be lowering the income limit from 1 July, altering the eligibility.
The income cap will drop to $150,000 for a household’s combined income.
Households with a combined income between $150,000 and $210,000 will have until 30 June to have their Solar Victoria application approved for installation. Partial applications from 1 July will NOT be accepted.

The VEU program aims to help households reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions by offering rebates or discounts on energy-efficient products and appliances.
