Chu Tight-Lipped On Affair With Solar Panel

Bizarre solar panel love affairs have been in the news recently; including reports of an incident involving none other than US Energy Secretary Steven Chu.

Bizarre solar panel love affairs have been in the news recently; including reports of an incident involving none other than US Energy Secretary Steven Chu.

The Onion reported Energy Secretary Chu  recently awoke to find himself sleeping next to a giant solar panel he had met the previous evening. Chu is well known as having a passion for solar, but not at this level.

The report was all in good fun of course, but the good humoured Chu took note of article and saw it as an opportunity to further promote solar power, stating on his Facebook page:

“I just want everyone to know that my decision not to serve a second term as Energy Secretary has absolutely nothing to do with the allegations made in this week’s edition of the Onion,” he said; referring to his recent announcement he would soon be stepping down from the role.

“While I’m not going to confirm or deny the charges specifically, I will say that clean, renewable solar power is a growing source of US jobs and is becoming more and more affordable, so it’s no surprise that lots of Americans are falling in love with solar.”

Closer to home, love affairs with solar panels have also stirred up media interest.

Former Perfect Match host and marriage celebrant Greg Evans will be performing a unique commitment ceremony this Valentine’s Day where he will marry the most ‘cheated-on’ Australian electricity user to a solar panel from Energy Matters in a protest against the 91% price hike in energy bills over the last five years.

“It seems each quarter we’re hit with another bill shock and wonder what on earth we’ve been doing differently to warrant such an increase. I’m a bit of an expert when it comes to relationships and I think we’re being had,” said Mr. Evans, who is a recent convert to solar.
