Yingli Scores 2MW Solar Panel Supply Deal

Solar panel supply contracts of note just keep coming for Yingli Green Energy.

The company announced this morning it will supply 2 MW of solar modules to Maqo Solar; one of Malaysia’s rising stars of that nation’s residential solar energy sector.

The panels, YGE series modules, will generate enough electricity to supply around 500 typical Malaysian homes. These panels ranked 2nd in a 2012 TÜV Rheinland Energy Yield Test and 5th in a 2012 PHOTON Field Test carried out under real-world conditions.

“We selected Yingli Green Energy because their track record for product quality is validated by independent testing and assessments – and that gave us strong assurance in Yingli Solar modules’ long-term reliability,” said Colen Lau, General Manager of Maqo Solar.

The deal sees Yingli expanding on its already significant presence in Malaysia. According to the company, 11.3 MW of its solar modules were installed in the nation during 2013 – enough to generate 11,570 MWh of electricity annually and to power roughly 2,820 typical Malaysian homes.

Other contracts secured by Yingli in just the last couple of months include a major joint venture with China Rich Energy, supply of 1MW of Yingli solar panels to Serbia’s 2nd largest solar farm, a joint venture with China’s Shuozhou Coal Power Co., Ltd. to develop and construct solar farms and solar photovoltaic projects in Algeria.

Last week, Yingli was recognised as having again been the world’s largest supplier of solar modules.

With China setting ambitious goals for solar installations this year – 14 gigawatts – 2014 should be another stellar year for the company.

Locally, Yingli is making an impact as well. The company opened an office in Sydney last year and national solar provider Energy Matters is currently offering special system package deals featuring YGE series modules.
