Apollo Energy Joins Tasmanian Renewable Energy Alliance

Energy Matters' sister company has joined TREA; the recently-formed Tasmanian Renewable Energy Alliance.

Energy Matters’ sister company has joined TREA; the recently-formed Tasmanian Renewable Energy Alliance.

TREA promotes the use of renewable energy in the Apple Isle and provides a united voice for the renewables sector in dealing with government and regulatory agencies.

“TREA has already become a powerful platform for the Tasmanian renewable energy industry,” says Energy Matters and Apollo Energy CEO, Jeremy Rich.

“Apollo Energy looks forward to making a meaningful contribution to the development of renewable energy policy in the state through the Alliance.”

Since forming in October, the Alliance has successfully lobbied on issues relating to permit requirements and has run seven professional development events covering various topics relating to regulations, equipment and electrical inspections.

The Alliance also recently lodged a submission relating to the much-maligned Renewable Energy Target review; arguing the case for the RET to remain untouched.

TREA says policy certainty and consistency is necessary so that the Tasmanian renewables industry can attract, develop and retain a skilled workforce.

Among its other current efforts, TREA is working towards securing a more generous solar feed in tariff for Tasmanian solar businesses and households; one that reflects the full benefits of distributed generation.

The solar PV industry in Tasmania currently provides skilled, permanent employment for over 450 people.

“There are already over 20,000 solar PV installations in Tasmania and we believe there is enormous scope for the industry to expand further and create additional jobs and economic activity throughout the state,” says the most recent issue of the TREA newsletter.
