Bupa Traralgon is situated on the north-east side of the regional city of Traralgon, located in Victoria’s East Latrobe Valley. The facility is in a peaceful area, surrounded by green fields and private homes.
In harmony with this peaceful setting are multiple solar arrays installed by Energy Matters for Bupa Aged Care. These solar power systems will quietly generate clean energy from the sun for decades.

This Energy Matters project involved installing 1,150 REC and Trina Solar modules across three separate arrays. The panels were mounted on SunLock systems, designed and made locally in Australia.
The solar panels transmit the clean electricity they generate to 12 Fronius Symo 20kW (light) solar inverters that convert it from DC to AC and supply the facility with power. Bupa Traralgon maintains a grid connection, ensuring a continual power supply.
With a combined capacity of 299kW, this significant renewable energy project is expected to generate 378.51 megawatt-hours of electricity and avoid 442,857 kg of carbon emissions each year.
Alongside the significant positive environmental impact, the installation will save Bupa Aged Care approximately $69,646 each year on electricity costs.
Bupa Aged Care’s solar power rollout in Australia was recognised at the 2015 Australian Business Awards, with the organisation named ABA100 Winner in the Sustainability category.
