One of the many sites across Australia where Bupa Aged Care installed solar was at its Sutherland facility in New South Wales.
Situated in the heart of the Sutherland Shire, the new care home featured extensive lawns with lovingly maintained flower gardens, planter boxes and wonderful courtyard vistas.
With solar power systems now added to the premises, the site is was even greener.

Our recent project for Bupa at Sutherland involved two systems—one with REC solar panels and another with Yingli Solar modules. Both sets of panels were mounted on Australian-made, Australian-designed SunLock systems, specifically developed for Australia’s harsh conditions.
The 50.18kW REC solar power system also includes two Fronius Symo inverters, while the 89.5kW Yingli Solar array channels its power to three ABB Trio 27.6kW inverters. Both sets of inverters efficiently convert solar energy into AC for the facility’s use.
Combined, the 551 panels represent nearly 140 kW of solar capacity, with an estimated annual output of 203.6 MWh of clean electricity. These PV arrays will together offset approximately 178,202 kg of CO2 emissions and save Bupa Aged Care around $35,197 each year on power bills.
In addition to caring for people for over 60 years, Bupa also looks after the environment. The Sutherland site was part of a major solar rollout by Bupa Aged Care, which was also the country’s largest distributed solar power project.
