NEWSFLASH – Solar Credits Subsidy Slashed Prematurely

The Federal Government has announced it is totally phasing out the Solar Credits multiplier 6 months early - meaning the subsidy will be reduced by 50%.

Households and small businesses considering installing solar panels will need to order their systems very soon. The Federal Government has announced it is totally phasing out the Solar Credits multiplier 6 months early – meaning the subsidy will be reduced by 50%.

According to national solar provider Energy Matters, it’s the company’s understanding eligible households and businesses will still be entitled to the current 2x Solar Credits multiplier in the following circumstances:

• Where a contract to purchase was entered into before today – installation must occur before June 30, 2013.
• Where a contract is entered into today or later – they system must be installed before 1 January 2013.

The very unwelcome news will no doubt trigger a rush, as has always been the case when similar announcements have been made in the past relating to solar subsidies.

With the end of the year rapidly approaching and many installers taking a break over the Christmas period, installation appointment slots will become very scarce, very quickly.

In order to help as many households as possible acquire a rooftop solar panel array, Energy Matters is running a series of solar power system specials and has announced it will be providing a price guarantee for a very limited time.

Households wanting to seize the opportunity to go solar at the current subsidy level can call the Energy Matters team on 133 SUN or secure a system with a deposit using the company’s online quoting application. The Energy Matters 1300 727 151 solar hotline operating hours have also been extended to include Saturdays (10am – 4pm).

The Australian Solar Council has slammed the Australian Government’s decision to bring the date so far forward and with so little notice.

“This is a knee-jerk reaction to a non-existent problem and a pre-emptive strike on Australian families who want to install solar to cut their power bills,” said John Grimes, Chief Executive of the Australian Solar Council.

Energy Matters has been Australia’s trusted source of renewable energy news and education since 2005. We offer free services: providing free solar quotes, free battery quotes, and connecting home and business owners with local and pre-vetted installers.
