Tasmania’s AgFest Field Days 2013 drew a huge crowd again this year and one of those attendees will soon be the proud owner of a free solar power system.
National solar provider Energy Matters offered attendees the opportunity to win a 1.4kW system valued at $3399 (excluding government incentives) by simply filling out their details on an entry form.
All entrants went into a random draw and the lucky winner has been announced – Stephen Crocker from Ulverstone. Stephen’s system will be installed by local installer Matt Corbett from GJ Appliance & Electrical Service on Reiby Street, Ulverstone.
Matt and his team have installed more than 200 systems with Energy Matters over the past couple of years.
Agfest Field Days, an annual event, is run by a volunteer committee of Rural Youth Organisation of Tasmania members and ex-members. AgFest 2013 was a major success, with 65,645 attending.
Energy Matters says solar power generated significant interest among rural and urban attendees looking to slash their electricity bills.
A 6kW solar power system supplied by Energy Matters and installed in Tasmania can return a financial benefit of approximately $1,780 annually; depending on installation location.
In addition to its best pricing ever on solar, Energy Matters is also currently offering Tasmanians a zero deposit payment plan.
It seems right now is the best time to go solar in the Apple Isle.
A discussion paper recently released by the Tasmanian government indicates that for those installing solar panels soon, the state’s current generous 1 for 1 feed in tariff will stay in place until 2017; allowing for greatly accelerated system payback time.
However, a potential cloud on the horizon prior to January is the state of the Australian dollar; which has lost ground recently. If that downward trend continues or the current situation sustained, it could mean solar equipment price increases in the not too distant future.
