Energy Matters Inks 10MW Daqo Solar Panel Deal

Australian solar provider Energy Matters has signed a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) with Daqo New Energy Corporation for supply of 10MW of Daqo solar panels.

Australian solar provider Energy Matters has signed a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) with Daqo New Energy Corporation for supply of 10MW of Daqo solar panels.

10MW capacity represents 40,000 250 watt solar modules – or enough to provide all the power needs for more than 2,000 average Australian households.

The MOU also signifies Energy Matters, via sister company Apollo Energy, becoming the exclusive distributor for Daqo products in Australia and New Zealand for the duration of the initial agreement.

According to Energy Matters CEO Jeremy Rich, Daqo solar panels have proven to be a rising star among the many brands crowding the marketplace.

“Daqo modules were relatively unknown in Australia just a few years ago. Quality is of paramount importance to Energy Matters – after testing the panels and personally inspecting Daqo’s manufacturing facilities; we were convinced the modules would be perfect for the Australian home solar market.”

Unlike many other panel producers, Daqo is a vertically integrated manufacturer; producing silicon, cells, wafers and modules.

Its solar panels are based on Daqo New Energy’s 9N polysilicon; which is sought after by other module manufacturers for its purity (99.9999999%). Offering a smaller panel footprint than many brands, Daqo also guarantees output of its modules to be more than nameplate wattage rating.

Daqo solar panels were recently awarded a Class A rating after demonstrating outstanding performance in potential-induced degradation (PID) testing; one of the solar industry’s toughest endurance tests.

“Daqo offer a standard usually seen in more expensive modules,” says Mr. Rich. “As for their ability to cope with Australia’s often harsh conditions; we haven’t seen a single warranty claim since we began installing the panels across the nation. Quite simply, they offer outstanding quality and stellar performance for a module in this price range.”

Part of the nearly half-century old Daqo Group, Daqo New Energy’s other partnerships include ventures with companies such as Siemens, Moeller, Eaton, Secheron and NKT.

The company is one of a handful in the solar sector selected to receive priority funding support from China Development Bank Corp. and is tipped to be a likely winner in China’s polysilicon shakeout.
