40,000+ Yingli Solar Panels Powering Malaysian PV Facility

Yingli Green Energy Singapore has announced the official commissioning of Malaysia's largest solar farm.

Yingli Green Energy Singapore has announced the official commissioning of Malaysia’s largest solar farm, powered by more than 10 megawatts of Yingli Solar modules.

Over 40,000 YGE Series multicrystalline panels at the facility will generate an estimated 13.6 million kWh of electricity annually.

The 10.3 MW project, which covers approximately 34 acres, was developed by Amcorp Power, a subsidiary of Amcorp Group Berhad.

In other Yingli news, the company has announced financial results for the quarter ended March 31, 2014. Total Yingli solar panel shipments (including shipments for PV systems) reached 630.8 MW for the quarter.

The second quarter also appears to be a successful one for the company.

“Since the beginning of the second quarter, we have seen substantial upside in demand from China as well as emerging markets such as South America, Southeast Asia and Africa, we expect this trend to continue towards the second half of 2014,” said Mr. Liansheng Miao, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Yingli Green Energy.

“Based on our current order backlog and estimation of market prospects, we expect our shipments in the upcoming quarters will pick up from the first quarter and we are confident to achieve shipment guidance of 4.0GW to 4.2GW for fiscal year 2014.”

Mr. Miao says the company has also made significant headway in broadening from being purely a PV manufacturer to a renewable energy solutions provider and it expects to develop approximately 400MW to 600MW of solar projects by the end of 2014.

Headquartered in Baoding, China, Yingli Green Energy is the world’s largest fully vertically integrated solar panel manufacturer and has shipped more than 9,000 MW of its modules to customers worldwide; including for installations in Australia. Yingli solar panels were ranked 2nd in a TÜV Rheinland 12 month Energy Yield Field Test in 2012.
