Enphase Energy Storage Going Gangbusters In Australia

Australian installers have wasted no time in setting up Enphase AC Battery systems in homes across the country.

It seems Enphase Energy’s booth was also a popular destination at this year’s All Energy Australia event; the major drawcard being the company’s new- generation energy storage system.

Centerpiece  of the Enphase Storage System is AC Battery; a modular and very compact solution enabling the easy addition of batteries as required. At 25 kilograms, the AC Battery is a featherweight compared to other systems; albeit it doesn’t have their capacity.

The modular nature and ease of installation of AC Battery has obviously been a hit for the company; triggering many enquiries from installers and solar households wanting to extract maximum value from the electricity they generate from their rooftops.

Enphase AC Battery

“We’re delighted to have installed the Enphase Storage System in hundreds of homes in Australia in just four short weeks,” the Enphase team tweeted yesterday from the Melbourne Convention And Exhibition Centre.

Australia was the first country in the world where the AC Battery was made generally available.

Enphase AC Battery arrived in Australia in August and started shipping to installers (including Energy Matters) in September. Popularity of the batteries is such the company upped its projections for sales over the next 12 months; estimating the tally at 70,000 units in Australia and New Zealand alone.

“..the Enphase Storage System with the AC Battery has made waves as it uses unmatched innovation based on our signature distributed all AC architecture to create a fully integrated and safe storage system with the highest lifetime value,” says the company; which ran installation workshops at the All Energy Australia event.

The battery is based on lithium iron phosphate (LFP or LiFePO4) chemistry; providing a solid cycle life and high degree of safety.

Other components of the system include Enphase microinverters, which are attached to the back of each solar panel and do away with the need for a string inverter. Also part of the suite is Enphase Envoy, the “brains” of the system that provides module level monitoring and pushes software updates through to the components.
