REC Extends Solar Panel Warranty Program

REC solar warranty

REC solar panels just became even better value for commercial installations after REC announced an extension of its product warranty, and at no extra cost.

Solar panel warranties usually consist of two elements – the product warranty and the output guarantee; which is often tiered.

With REC solar panels, the 25 year output guarantee is linear – at least 97% output during the first year of performance and a maximum 0.7% reduction of power output per year from year 2-25.

The product warranty focuses on materials and workmanship in the panels.

REC recently announced an extended product warranty, 12 years instead of 10, to be immediately available for solar panels on all rooftop installations up to 500 kilowatts. The extended warranty applies to panels installed by certified REC Solar Professionals.

Luc Graré, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing at REC, says the extension was a result of the increasing popularity of commercial solar installations.

“By extending its product warranty from ten to 12 years for all registered installations up to 500kW, REC is providing planners for commercial and industrial installations with greater ROI predictability. It also reflects the confidence we have in the reliably high quality of REC solar panels, even after many years of service.”

Multiple-award winners, REC solar panels deliver more power per square meter, have a positive power class rating and an energy payback time of just one year. REC Peak Energy modules also boast a low temperature coefficient and have excelled in  potential-induced degradation (PID) resistance testing.

The robustness and high performance of REC solar panels in particularly harsh conditions has been demonstrated at the Desert Knowledge Australia Solar Center (DKASC); where a 5.5kW test installation is installed and closely monitored.

In Australia, national provider Energy Matters and sister company Apollo Energy were the first companies to gain the REC Solar Professional certification and the first in the Asia Pacific to be recognized as REC Platinum Partners.

Energy Matters introduced REC panels to the Australian home solar power market in June 2010. Within just a few months, the panels became so popular that Energy Matters entered into an agreement for the purchase of 20 megawatts of the panels – enough capacity to power 5,000 Australian homes and the largest single solar panel supply agreement in Australia’s history at that time.
