40 Free Electric Vehicle Charging Stations For Adelaide
Energy Matters
At least 40 new electric vehicle charging stations will be available on streets of the City of Adelaide next year – and EV owners will be able to use them free of charge.
An initiative of Adelaide City Council, the stations will add to the existing four EV chargers already in the CBD.
The announcement was made by Adelaide’s Lord Mayor at Electric Vehicle Expo; held at Elder Park yesterday and presented by the Australian Electric Vehicle Association Inc. (AEVA)
“We want to be a smart city, we want to send a very clear signal to everyone that technology and the knowledge economy is important to our future,” said Lord Mayor Martin Haese.
“We believe electric vehicles do both.”
The Mayor stated approximately 700 electric and 22,000 hybrid vehicles were currently registered in South Australia – and those numbers will grow exponentially.
Council is also offering incentives for the installation of further chargers in the City of Adelaide area.
“Council’s Sustainability Incentives Scheme (SIS) also provides attractive financial incentives for residents and building owners to install EV charging points in their home or commercial premises. Even more good reasons to live, work and invest in the City of Adelaide!” said Lord Mayor Haese on his Facebook page.
The Sustainability Incentives Scheme provides financial support for wide variety of energy efficiency related projects – including home and commercial solar.
