Composting food waste is a fantastic way to reduce landfill and to feed your garden. Coco shows us how easy it can be with a home compost bin and the scraps leftover from her family’s daily meals and coffee. Once the scraps have decomposed, they can be added to your garden for a sustainable boost!
The small steps we take each day can have a lasting and profound impact on the environment. What can you implement in your home or business to reduce your impact?
Close your eyes – what’s the first image that pops in your mind when you think of renewable energy? If you’re like me, you probably pictured a solar panel. For a time, solar energy dominated the renewable energy conversation, and for good reason. Australians love generating their own clean energy and solar is the primary way in which we can do that. But, and as Energy Matters is showing us, there’s so much more to renewable energy than the humble panels on your roof.
It was such a pleasure to chat with Erin from Hydro Tasmania. We were both dwarfed by the mammoth walls of Cethana dam! I could feel my heart skip a beat when Erin explained the future of pumped hydro. How exciting and what a leap forward in hydro technology and energy storage for Aussies!
James was given the grand tour of Raystech’s warehouses that dispatch renewable energy tech powering homes and businesses around the country. The service they provide is unmatched – installers and retailers can get the products they need, when they need them. Managing stock can be a logistical nightmare for many in the industry, but Raystech offer a solution that unites stock with exceptional customer service.
I missed out on Everything Electric NSW this year due to the cyclone that cut power to my home and surrounding areas for days. BLUETTI not only showcased their incredible suite of portable and home battery storage solutions but demonstrated how they can be deployed to keep the lights on. Relying on the electricity grid is a fool’s errand now. Arm yourself with battery backup!
Finally, Second Life Solar showcased why their services are vital as Australia transitions from the old to new. There’s no denying that we have a huge solar waste problem on our hands. Panels are being ripped from roofs to make way for newer counterparts. Being able to give them a second life, or recycle parts to reduce waste, is crucial for the environment and our country’s goals.
Phew – that was a massive episode! I cannot wait for Episode 7. See you all next week.
