Energy Matters Unveils Free Solar Analyser App For The iPhone

A new free iPhone and iPod Touch app (application) from national solar solutions provider Energy Matters takes assessing a site's suitability and solar electricity production potential out of the sole domain of installers and into the hands of home owners.

Melbourne, Victoria, January 11, 2009. Installing a solar power system is a wish list item for many home owners; but systems work better in some locations than others.

The proper positioning of a system on a rooftop is also paramount to achieving the maximum output. Once a system is installed, it’s often left to faith that it has been placed in the best possible position.

A new free iPhone and iPod Touch app (application) from national solar solutions provider Energy Matters takes assessing a site’s suitability and solar electricity production potential out of the sole domain of installers and into the hands of home owners.

The Energy Matters Solar Analyser app provides full solar site analysis and is simple enough to operate that just about anyone can use it.

By utilising the advanced features of the iPhone, it requires minimal set-up time to input some basic details, and then it’s simply a matter of tracing the skyline with the “heads up sight”.

Using the Solar Analyser’s high resolution graphical display, home owners can determine a realistic estimation of the kilowatt-hours of solar power that can be generated at a location, taking into account the local shading. The Solar Analyser supports fixed, single and dual axis tracking systems.

The Solar Analyser includes a database of solar panel and inverter models and by adding standard or feed in tariff rates for electricity, the tool will also calculate the approximate monthly value of solar energy production from a system. Once an analysis is complete, the user can also elect to have a full report sent to any email address.

According to Max Sylvester, co-founder of Energy Matters, “While similar applications can cost a bundle, Energy Matters would like to help everyone get the most out of their current or potential system, so we have decided to make the app available for free to all Australians.”
