Episode 4 of Energy Matters gave us an inside look at the GoodWe EcoSmart Kids program and their fantastic awards event. We visited Bruce’s home that has undergone electrification with the help of Momentum Energy and Goodbye Gas. And we toured an intricately designed, multi-dwelling home from Light House Architecture & Science.

Coco shared with us how she saves energy around the home. Small actions can make a huge impact if we all chip in.
Shorter showers means conserving water plus reducing your energy bills. An air con timer is a simple and easy way to cool down or heat up your room while minimising the time it is running. And finally, parasitic draw is where your appliances continue to draw electricity even when not in use. Switching them off at the wall conserves energy.
Reducing your carbon footprint can start with simple swaps and habit shifts. What changes can you make to your daily routines to save energy?
One of my favourite things is seeing how education can completely change people’s lives. GoodWe and their EcoSmart Kids program kicks this up a gear by educating the next generation on climate change and sustainability. I was truly blown away by the artwork and innovations submitted to the EcoSmart Kids awards. The students involved displayed ingenuity and insights that have given me hope in a better tomorrow.
I applaud Dean Williamson and the team for developing a program that gets right to the heart of the change we are all desperate to see for the future.
James’ visit to Bruce’s home was eye-opening. Bruce has done what so many people have been wanting to do for years: electrification. Momentum Energy’s partnership with Goodbye Gas allows the dream of electrification to become a reality. Let’s face it, most of us have put it in the too-hard basket. Not knowing where to start of who to contact is the first obstacle. Goodbye Gas overcomes this and manages the whole process. If you go the whole hog and completely say goodbye to gas, Momentum are there to cover the gas abolishment fee. These services can make electrification a reality.
The ‘family compound’ I visited with Light House Architecture and Design was fantastic. Passive design is really one of those things that has always sounded like a gimmick, but to see how it works, and how it can save you money, has completely shifted my perception of home design.
It is my hope that Episode 4 was as eye-opening for you as it was for me! I cannot wait for Episode 5. See you all next week.
