AUO Solar Panels Now BenQ Solar

AUO solar panels have been re-branded to BenQ Solar – a division AU Optronics Corp.

BenQ Solar has built a reputation after having successfully accomplished many large solar power plants projects in Europe, Asia and Africa. The name change by AUO has been made “to actively enhance its presence in the global solar market” says the company.

“With the support of BenQ’s well-established brand equity and global sales and service platform, BenQ Solar will rapidly expand its business and earn customer trust,” says  K.Y. Lee, Chairman of BenQ Group. “BenQ Solar’s world-class high-efficiency solar products and global operation will provide customers with local-made products and in-time services, making it the most trust-worthy solar brand.”

AUO/BenQ have been in solar industry headlines recently for a number of achievements, including the launch of the AC Unison – an AC (Alternating Current) solar panel.

Standard solar panels generated Direct Current (DC), which can’t be used directly by common household appliances. The DC first needs to be converted to Alternating Current (AC); a function performed by a solar inverter – a separate component.

The AC Unison still outputs DC, but mounted on the back of the panel is a micro-inverter converting the DC to AC. The reported benefits include simpler and safer installation, plus improved electricity conversion efficiency.

Among the AUO/BenQ range is also the EcoDuo and Green Triplex solar panels, which offer what the company says is a unique photocatalyst treatment that decomposes surface contamination, increasing performance over the long term.

AU Optronics also recently announced a 9 MW solar farm in the Pennsylvania School District. This will be the largest solar farm in the state and will host 37,500 AUO (BenQ Solar) modules; generating 10.88 million kilowatt-hours of electricity each year, while avoiding up to 6,663 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually.
