Energy Matters Helps Ride The Talk

At the self-described “ripe old age” of 54, John Knox has decided to take action about the lack of action on climate change by embarking on an odyssey around Australia by bicycle to provide talks on energy efficiency and what each person can do to reduce their carbon footprint.

John is no stranger to green issues – he’s taking leave from from his position with the Alternative Technology Association (ATA), a not-for-profit member organisation that has been walking the talk in sustainability for the past 30 years, in order to undertake the journey.

“I want all of us to not just talk the talk, I want us to walk the talk and this was the genesis of my vision, “RideTheTalk”” says John.

As a part of his project, John has also launched an online petition. “My plan will be a success when I succeed in getting 500,000 online signatures of people supporting action now from government to take things seriously”

Among the major sponsors of John’s odyssey is national solar solutions provider Energy Matters. According to the company’s co-founder, Max Sylvester, “With Australia about to head to the polls, John’s journey is occurring at a crucial time and we’re very proud to be assisting him in his efforts to raise awareness about energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies such as solar power.”

“While major government-funded projects tend to capture the public’s attention, people also need to know that every little effort they make to reduce their carbon footprint does count and these efforts are critical in the battle against climate change.”

John’s journey begins tomorrow and his travel calendar can be viewed here.
