About Chromagen Heat Pumps
Chromagen's Midea HP 170 hot water heat pump can service homes with up to 4 people and the HP 280 is more suited to larger households with higher hot water demands.
Based on climate conditions in Brisbane (Zone 3), the HP170 has a recovery rate of 30 litres per hour and the HP 280, 54 litres per hour.
Operating at a noise level of just 48 dBA, the Midea is one of the quietest heat pumps available in Australia.
The Midea heat pump has 3 running modes:
- ECO mode. This is the standard mode where the highest efficiency is achieved without need for the heating element to be engaged.
- Hybrid mode. This engages when when the air temperature drops below 10°C. During this mode of operation, the heat pump and electric element are working together.
- E-heater mode. This kicks in when the ambient air temperature drops below 5°C. In E-heater mode, the electricity element is used exclusively to heat water.
A one-piece streamlined shape incorporating a top-mounted compressor, the Midea has a compact footprint for installation flexibility. 25 Pa air outlet pressure enables ducted flueing up to 5 meters in length.
The larger HP280 model also features power outage memory, auto-disinfection function, vacation mode, top in-out flue and outdoor LCD screen cover.
While Midea heat pumps can be run on off-peak tariffs, Chromagen doesn't recommend this as this would see the heat pump generally running during the evenings when ambient temperatures are cooler.
Warranty: 5 year tank warranty, a 2 year warranty on the compressor and electronics (5 years in Victoria), 1 year on all parts and labour.
