Media Release

Fox ESS has unveiled its new CQ6 High Voltage Storage Battery, targeting Australian households and businesses seeking higher capacity, faster payback, and simpler installation.

Launched in late December, the CQ6 delivers a dense, modular design that allows up to 48 kWh in a single compact stack using eight units. This places it neatly at the upper eligibility limit of the Federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program, making it well-suited to larger homes and commercial sites aiming to maximise solar self-consumption.

Designed for faster payback

Performance sits at the heart of the CQ6. The battery offers more than 95 per cent round-trip efficiency and a full 100 per cent depth of discharge. This means users can access more of the stored energy they generate, improving utilisation and shortening payback periods.

The CQ6 offers simpler, quicker installation

Fox ESS has focused on installation efficiency, with a compact footprint designed to reduce labour time. Compared to traditional systems, installers can reportedly save one to two hours per installation. This flexibility suits suburban homes, regional properties, and industrial facilities alike.

CQ6: Built for scale and compatibility

Each CQ6 module delivers 5.99 kWh and can be configured from 11.98 kWh up to 83.86 kWh per stack. When paired with the H3 Plus inverter, three stacks can deliver a total capacity of 251.58 kWh. The system integrates across the Fox ESS inverter range, including H1-G2, KH and HA series, and H3 models.

John Grimes, CEO of the Smart Energy Council, said the CQ6 arrives at a critical moment for Australia’s energy transition.

“The CQ6 is a game-changer for Australia’s clean energy transition. Its high density and efficiency, along with modular scalability, make it perfect for homes and businesses aiming to maximise solar self-consumption and reduce reliance on the grid,” he said.

Ready for evolving energy policy

The CQ6 is positioned to align with recent updates to the Cheaper Home Batteries Program and the upcoming Solar Sharer Offer launching on 1 July 2026. The Solar Sharer Offer will require retailers to provide at least three hours of free daytime electricity in NSW, south-east Queensland, and South Australia.

High-capacity batteries like the CQ6 allow households to soak up this excess daytime energy, store it efficiently, and use it later when prices rise. The system also supports participation in virtual power plants and works with platforms such as Amber, Evergen, and Synergy, helping consumers take greater control of their energy use.

Michael Zhu, CEO of Fox ESS, said policy certainty plays a vital role in accelerating uptake.

“Thanks to the SEC and the Federal Government for their continued efforts to strengthen local policy for our industry. These updates are crucial for accelerating Australia’s clean energy transition and enabling households and businesses to achieve real energy independence,” he said.

Strong product lineup for Australia

While Fox ESS continues to expand globally, its Australian product range already includes a suite of high-performance inverters and batteries designed for local conditions. The CQ6 builds on that foundation, offering higher-density storage without sacrificing flexibility, safety, or efficiency.

For Australian homes and businesses navigating changing tariffs, new rebates, and increasing electrification, the CQ6 adds another compelling option to the growing battery market.
