Virginia reports on the shock announcement regarding Queensland’s solar feed in tariff, GreenPower and the carbon tax, Campbell’s souping up their solar portfolio and the Clean Energy Council cautions consumers shopping for solar power.
In this episode:
– The Queensland Solar Bonus Scheme feed in tariff will be slashed from 44 cents to just 8 cents per kilowatt hour for new customers submitting applications to join the scheme from July 10. Consumers who wish to access the 44 cent rate will need to lodge a network connection application before midnight on July 9.
Households already receiving the 44 cent solar feed in tariff will not be affected. Read more.
– The Sustainable Energy Association says electricity customers opting for 100% GreenPower electricity should not be hit with any carbon price related bill increases from July 1. As there are no carbon emissions associated with electricity from renewables, there should be no carbon price to pass on, according to the Association’s Chief Adviser, Professor Ray Wills. Read more.
– Campbell Soup Company has celebrated the completion of a 9.8 megawatt solar power system at its manufacturing facility in Ohio.The ground mount solar farm is generating the equivalent of 15 percent of the facility’s annual electricity requirements. Read more.
– The Clean Energy Council has issued a statement reminding consumers to take care when purchasing a solar power system. The Council’s acting Chief Executive Kane Thornton said solar is a great way to reduce household power bills, but urged consumers to do their homework.
