Australia’s energy market has received a major boost with the federal government’s official launch of the Cheaper Home Battery Program, a A$2.3 billion initiative offering households and businesses up to 30% rebates on solar battery installations. This landmark policy marks a significant step in Australia’s clean energy transition and household energy cost relief.
Major government subsidies slash storage costs
Under the new policy, eligible households and small businesses installing solar battery systems can access federal rebates from 1 July 2025. For example, a 6 kWh system could receive around A$2,220 in subsidies, while a larger 27 kWh installation may qualify for nearly A$10,000. Additional state-level incentives, such as New South Wales’ top-up of up to A$1,500, further reduce upfront costs.
Australian Federal Minister for Climate Change and Energy, Chris Bowen, recently visited OSW, expressing strong support for the Cheaper Home Battery Scheme and the manufacturers committed to bringing the initiative to life when it officially launched on July 1st.
SolisStorage: High-performance tech for a greener grid
As a globally recognised energy storage solutions provider, SolisStorage has gained market trust through its efficient, safe, and smart hybrid systems.
Demonstrating rapid adoption of the state’s newly introduced clean energy incentives, a Western Australian household installed a SolisStorage 8kW residential hybrid system.
By implementing this advanced hybrid solution, the family has positioned itself among the beneficiaries of the scheme. Their strategic investment not only qualifies them for government rebates but will also deliver significant long-term savings through dramatically reduced electricity bills.
With Australia accelerating its energy transition, household storage demand continues to surge. SolisStorage residential hybrid solution has positioned itself as a preferred choice under the subsidy scheme, offering consumers both economic and environmental benefits.
Seizing the opportunity for sustainable energy
The subsidy rollout is expected to trigger a storage market boom in the second half of 2025, cutting energy costs while supporting national decarbonisation.
Johnny Zhang, Solis Country Manager of Australia, said,
“We welcome the government’s new battery subsidy initiative and are committed to supporting households and businesses in transitioning to clean energy. With these strong incentives, now is the ideal time to invest—not only to reduce energy costs but also to contribute to a greener future.”
