Last night businesses throughout the City of Port Phillip came together to celebrate and reward excellence and contribution to the community during the CitiPower Port Phillip Business Excellence Awards ceremony.

The gala evening was held at the St Kilda Town Hall and included an exceptional performance by Jon Jackson and was hosted by local personality and comedienne Rachel Berger.

Solar solutions provider Energy Matters had been honoured as a finalist in two categories, Environmental Sustainability: Products & Services and Environmental Sustainability: Environmental Impact.

Energy Matters wishes to congratulate all winners and especially acknowledge Daisy Dry Cleaning, the chemical-free dry cleaners, who won the Impact award, as well as Ecovantage who took home the Products & Services award.

Ecovantage were surprised and thrilled at their well deserved win. “I wasn’t prepared for this at all, but I am excited to be able to take this award back to my amazing staff, without whom we could never have achieved so much, as well as the support of the City of Port Phillip community who have assisted in reducing environmental impact by retrofitting showerheads and energy efficient light bulbs”, said Bruce Easton, Managing Director of Ecovantage.

Other categories included Creative Industries, Health and Wellbeing, Hospitality, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Partnerships and Social Inclusion, Service Excellence and Tourism.

Two Hall of Fame Inductees were also announced, including Harold Mitchell AC, Executive Chairman, Mitchell Communication Group, and Founder of Szencorp, Peter Szental, who tragically passed away this year.

While Energy Matters didn’t take home any trophies this time, co-founder Max Sylvester says that the company is determined to be among the winners next year.

“With such great achievements this year and many more exciting developments on the horizon, Energy Matters is sure to be a heavyweight contender at next year’s Port Phillip Business – Watch this space!”
