Time For A National Solar Tour For Australia?

The world's largest solar energy event - the ASES National Solar Tour is about to kick off in the USA and is expected to attract over 150,000 people this year. Is it time for Australia to host such an event?

The world’s largest solar energy event – The non-profit American Solar Energy Society (ASES) National Solar Tour in the USA is due to kick off soon, with more than 5,000 homes, schools & businesses participating.

The event offers participants the opportunity to tour homes and buildings to see how others are utilizing solar energy, energy efficiency, and other sustainable technologies to reduce their energy costs and help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

In its 13th season, this year’s event is expected to be the largest grassroots solar event in the history of the U.S. Last year’s National Solar Tour attracted more than 115,000 people in 46 U.S. states and this year, it’s expected to attract over 150,000 people during October.

Perhaps it’s time that a similar event were organized for Australia? What are your thoughts? If you’re not a renewable energy system owner, or just in the process of learning about cutting energy consumption in your home, would you attend such an event? If you have made changes to your home so it’s more energy efficient, would you be interested in participating in an Australian “National Solar Tour”?
