Yingli Solar’s 54MW UK Panel Deal

Yingli Solar has announced it will supply a total of 54 MW of solar modules to seven projects in the United Kingdom.

Yingli Solar has announced it will supply a total of 54 MW of solar modules to seven projects in the United Kingdom.

The Yingli YGE Series solar modules will be installed in ground-mounted solar projects being developed by Grid Essence UK in the south of England and Wales.

Construction has already begun on the projects and delivery of the modules will be completed soon.

Scheduled for grid connection by the end this quarter, the seven solar farms will generate an estimated total of 54,500 MWh of electricity annually.

Grid Essence aims to own and operate at least one gigawatt of renewable energy plants within the next 5 years. The 54MW of projects will add to its existing 22.5 MW portfolio of operating PV. In January, the company announced it had into a £77 million financing facility with Deutsche Bank AG to build this round of solar projects.

Yingli Solar’s star is continuing to rise. The company experienced a stellar year in 2013, when it was again noted as being the largest supplier of solar modules in the world; shipping more than 3 gigawatts of solar panels.

2014 is shaping up to be another good one for the company, with various major deals announced and Yingli remaining on the “winners” list for continued domestic support in China.

Closer to home, local solar provider Energy Matters announced earlier this month it had entered into a distribution agreement with Yingli to supply and install the company’s modules in residential and commercial projects around Australia. Yingli panels will also be distributed via Energy Matters’ sister company; Apollo Energy.

Yingli Green Energy, the parent company of Yingli Solar, is a fully vertically-integrated manufacturer; spanning the entire solar panel production process from polysilicon to ingots, to solar cells and solar panels.
