Solar panel manufacturer SunPower emerged as the leading supplier in the latest round of French Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) tenders. SunPower’s solar panels are likely to figure prominently in French solar projects ove the next few years.
SunPower won the bid to supply 291MW in second-round CRE tenders for solar projects. This meant SunPower outperformed every other solar panel bidder. After winning in the first round, it will supply 505MW of solar power in total.
The tenders include ground mount, carport and rooftop solar projects in continental France and storage and self-consumption in non-interconnected zones. Non-Interconnected zones are those French islands which are not connected to the mainland’s electricity network.
SunPower’s solar panels: reliability and performance
SunPower Executive Vice President Peter Aschenbrenner said the company is proud to play a role in serving France’s renewable energy needs. He said SunPower solar panels deliver cost-competitive power and proven long-term reliability.
Compared to conventional panels, SunPower’s E-Series solar panels produce 30 per cent more energy over the first 25 years.
