Energy Matters completed the first solar installation for the Ambulance Service of New South Wales in 2011 and has since installed arrays on eight additional stations for a total installed capacity of 90 kW; with the last completed in May 2013.

The longevity of the relationship with the Service demonstrates Energy Matters’ commitment to our client, professional installation services, quality equipment and competitive pricing.
Design, supply and installation of nine individual systems (10.0kWp each) occurred on NSW ambulance stations; with sites including Batemans Bay, Byron Bay, Coonamble, Nelsons Bay, Cessnock, Murrurundi and Murwillumbah.
The new Coonamble ambulance station was designed with the environment in mind and in addition to the solar panel system, rainwater tanks were also installed.
The new $1.69 million Cessnock Ambulance Station was opened on 17 April 2012 and caters for 15 paramedics who currently respond to over 4000 incidents every year. As well as the solar power system, a solar hot water system is in use and rainwater harvesting provides water for toilets, external washing of vehicles and external taps for the garden.
NSW Ambulance provides clinical care and health-related transport services to over 7.25 million people in New South Wales, spread across a vast area of 801,600 square kilometres. In 2012/13, the service responded to 1,219,262 calls – averaging one response every 25.9 seconds.
The first recognised ambulance service in New South Wales, then known as the Civil Ambulance and Transport Brigade, commenced operations on 1 April 1895 and was staffed by just two permanent officers. Today, the Service employs over 4,000 people, with 90 per cent being front-line staff including paramedics and patient transport officers. There are a total of 226 ambulance stations throughout the State.
