Energy Matters worked with the contracted builders throughout the design and construction of the 28,000 m² building to reduce the cost of structural amendments. The seamless system integration involved working with other trades on-site without disruption.

The solar power system comprised 1,152 REC 260-watt Peak Energy Series solar panels, 3 Fronius Agilo 100 kW three-phase inverters and over 4 kilometres of SunLock channel. The system offsets site electricity charges during the business week and exports surplus electricity to the grid on weekends and public holidays.

CIP is among many construction companies that recognise the benefits of including a solar system in new builds.

L’Oréal has participated in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) since 2003. In 2007, the company enrolled in the CDP Supply Chain Program to urge its suppliers to assess and manage their CO2 emissions; by 2011, 48 of the group’s suppliers had joined the CDP.

By the end of 2014, the L’Oréal Group had reduced CO2 emissions by 50 percent in absolute terms, compared to a 2005 baseline. In the USA, L’Oréal also utilises solar technology at some of its facilities, representing an investment of over USD 35 million.

The success of L’Oréal’s Australian project, delivered on time and on budget, is a testament to Energy Matters’ experience as the leading commercial solar partner in Melbourne.
