Queensland Solar Incentive Countdown – 7 Days To Go

Solar provider Energy Matters experienced a massive weekend as Queensland households continue the race to secure a solar power system before the state’s feed in tariff is cut.

While Queensland is Australia’s stronghold for residential rooftop solar panel arrays and boasts over 180,000 installations, it seems there are still plenty of households in the state wanting to slash their power bills and accelerate payback time by buying a solar power system now.

Energy Matters’ team was kept busy on Saturday and Sunday after extending its trading hours and the company will continue to help Queensland households beat Premier Newman’s renewables razor gang with longer trading hours all this week.

Energy Matters’ 133 SUN solar hotline will be open from 8am – 7pm Monday to Friday and 10am – 4pm on Saturday and Sunday. Outside those times and even during, customers can also secure a system using Energy Matters solar quotes feature.

Queensland households leaving it until the last minute to buy a system may be disappointed. Unsubstantiated rumours of the government deadline being brought forward aside, in addition to a deposit on a system needing to be made before midnight July 9, feed in tariff applications must also be completed and submitted to the customers’ electricity distributor by this time.

Energy Matters has brought in additional resources to help customers complete documentation and to expedite the submission of applications, but urges those interested in acquiring a system to act now as the company expects even more activity as the deadline draws closer.

Those who put the decision off may be putting a huge amount at stake – up to $20,000 in financial benefits over the life of a solar power system could be lost as Queensland’s feed in tariff incentive will be slashed from the current 44c per kilowatt hour to just 8c + 6-8c for applications lodged after July 9.

Energy Matters is currently offering generous discounts on solar, including a 3.185kW system that can generate electricity bill savings of up $1,740 a year and a 4.9kW package that can wipe out many households’ electricity bills altogether.
