Ground-breaker, risk-taker, challenge-seeker or game-changer? The Australian Technologies Competition might be for your company.

Energy Matters has partnered with the Competition to promote this year’s event.

Open to SME (Small and Medium Enterprise) technology companies with less than 100 employees, the Australian Technologies Competition is geared toward enterprises developing, demonstrating or delivering technologies and solutions that can improve industry performance; output and use of resources – including energy.

The top 30 entries will qualify for the Business Accelerator Program; which is an intensive mentoring program on commercialisation, funding, pitching and international expansion. The top 30 will also be eligible to attend the International Market Entry Acceleration Program; designed to help drive export readiness and growth.

The Competition organisers say these programs not only benefit the companies involved, but also assist in the overall growth of Australia’s technology sector and help to increase the efficiency and competitiveness of all industry.

Overall and Industry Award Winners will represent Australia in related global competitions.

Last year’s overall winner was BluGlass; a semiconductor company bringing a breakthrough in the LED lighting and solar sector to market called Remote Plasma Chemical Vapour Deposition (RPCVD).

BluGlass CEO Giles Bourne said the 2013 win was “an important step in BluGlass’ development from an R&D company that has achieved proof of concept into an operational company moving towards industry acceptance.”

However, even entrants who don’t win can benefit from the exposure and mentoring that the Australian Technologies Competition can provide.

Now in its fourth year, this year’s competition will be launched on 13 March at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney and will be open for entries until 6 May.

The Competition’s core partner is the Department of Industry and principal sponsor is Autodesk.
