Solarfun Ups Solar Panel Production Goals

Solarfun Power Holdings Co., Ltd. announced late last week that due to strong demand for its solar panels, the company plans to increase solar module production capacity to 900 MW by August 2010; building substantially on its original goal announced in March of boosting module production capacity to 700 megawatts by the end of 2010.

SolarFun also said it had acquired a solar cell line from Shanghai-based Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC) with an annual capacity of 25MW, which would increase the company’s solar cell manufacturing capacity to over 500 MW by the beginning of July this year.

The company also recently announced that it will release its unaudited financial results for the first quarter of 2010 before the market opens on May 26, 2010.

Often re-branded under different names in Australia, SolarFun solar panels have become an increasingly popular choice in Australian home solar power systems, providing a good balance of performance and economy.

Solarfun panels are supported by a 25-year warranty and all modules are certified by TUV, CE, UL, and CEC worldwide certifications; as well as meeting all Australian and European quality and safety standards.

Solarfun began delivering modules in 2004 and is already one of China’s largest solar panel manufacturers. The company recently converted to in-line etching using advanced laser and chemical techniques, improving cell sunlight absorption, lowering current leaks and further minimising surface scratches. Solarfun’s monocrystalline and polycrystalline modules feature 2-busbar cells, helping to maximise cell light-absorption surface area.
