A clean energy business accelerating program designed to help startups and businesses to achieve a 100% clean energy future has announced its second intake with registration open now.
The program is now accepting its second intake of businesses after only 2 months of launching in April according to a press release.
Of the first four companies accepted into the program solar, electric vehicles, energy efficiency and buildings with low embodied energy are the areas the companies are involved in.
The focus of the program is to support the companies both in a financial way but also a large component of the program is business mentoring to help ensure the businesses involved succeed.
What does the clean energy business program involve?
“The progress we’ve seen in EnergyLab’s first cohort in just six weeks is inspiring and has given us confidence that there is a real need for support tailored towards clean energy startups,” said Piers Grove, Executive Director of EnergyLab.
“Being in a position to see the great diversity of clean energy startups in Australia is one of the best things about this job, and we can’t wait to see who applies for this cohort.”
Each startup will receive $50,000 and help to further gain on that initial capital.
The fund, established by Artesian in April to aid the innovation ecosystem in Australia’s Clean Energy sector, has also received investment from the Clean Energy Finance Corporation.
Next steps in the process
Jobs for NSW CEO Karen Borg saying: “The private-sector led, NSW Government supported Jobs for NSW provided a $120,000 grant to support the fitout and first year operating costs of EnergyLab, to help create Australia’s first startup accelerator program focused on developing the state’s renewable and advanced energy sector.”
“It is fantastic to see EnergyLab now achieving positive progress in developing emerging clean energy technology companies for what is an exciting growth industry of the future.”
The companies will also have access to free rent in EnergyLab’s coworking space, alongside other clean energy companies. This being made possible by University of Technology, Sydney.
From here companies will have till July 9th to apply before businesses are selected in August, starting the program in September.
