Energy Matters Raises Over $4,000 For Movember

Not satisfied with just being experts in solar power, team members from Energy Matters turned their technical know-how towards cultivating moustaches during November, all for a good cause.

The modestly named Energy Matters Sanchez Wonder Stars again took part in Movember, a moustache growing charity event held during November each year that raises funds and awareness for men’s health.

As in 2010, this year the company dollar matched donations its team members raised, up to $2,000. By the end of the facial hair fiesta, a total of $4,268 was raised for the cause – over a thousand dollars more than last year.

Captained by Tod “Dirty Lips” Mackay, Energy Matters’ 2011 team consisted of 9 members from various departments in the company including wholesale, install coordination, Tech QA, warehouse & logistics and sales.

Pleased but by no means content with this year’s effort, Mr. Mackay has vowed that next year his team will grow bigger moustaches and gather even more donations.

According to Energy Matters representative Virginia Streit, who hastened to point out she did not participate in the event (but did donate), “Energy Matters supports the health and welfare of its staff by providing annual Worksafe health checkups, healthy snacks, encouraging staff to ride bicycles to work and access to massage and naturopathy therapists.”

“We understand the importance of regular health checks and Movember has done a great job of bringing men’s health to the forefront of the public’s consciousness.”

Sunlight conversion efficiencies of the Energy Matters Sanchez Wonder Stars’ moustaches are still being calculated by the team.
