Energy Matters CEO Elected To Solar PV Leadership Committee

The results of the Clean Energy Council's (CEC) Solar PV Elections have been announced and Energy Matters' CEO Jeremy Rich is among the members who will form the organisation's Solar PV Leadership Committee.

The results of the Clean Energy Council’s (CEC) Solar PV Elections have been announced and Energy Matters’ CEO Jeremy Rich is among the members who will form the organisation’s Solar PV Leadership Committee.

Late last year, in response to feedback from members seeking greater involvement and consultation on policy, the CEC developed a strategy to restructure the way it engages with its solar PV members.

It created two directorates (one for small-scale and medium/large-scale solar) , the Solar PV CEO Forum, a Solar PV Leadership Committee and a Solar Communications Group.

According to Kane Thornton, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the CEC, the role of the Solar PV Leadership Committee is the focal point and key decision-making body for the PV sector within the organisation.

The committee will provide leadership and oversight in a range of areas such as overall strategy with regard to solar PV, related advocacy and communications strategy, working with the CEC Executive to maximise CEC and industry resources and assisting the CEC in determining priorities and resource allocation across solar PV industry activities.

Melbourne-based national solar solutions provider Energy Matters has been heavily engaged in advocacy for small-scale solar power throughout its history and Mr. Rich is looking forward to tackling this new role.

“While there exists tremendous goodwill towards PV in the community, this is being undermined by ill-informed politicians and their advisors. If this is not challenged in a coherent manner we risk the goodwill being quickly eroded.”

Mr. Rich holds Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Information Systems degrees and is actively involved in all facets of Energy Matters. In 2010, he was announced a nominee for Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year.

In November last year, Energy Matters was announced a winner in the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 2011 awards and also a winner in the program’s Leadership Award category.
