It’s all systems go for the 20MW Adobe Solar Facility in Kern County, California.

Consisting of 80,000 solar panels, the SunEdison-constructed facility is owned by Southern Power and Turner Renewable Energy.

The solar farm will produce enough electricity to power nearly 92,000 homes and offset carbon emissions equivalent to removing over 100,000 cars off the road.

“We are proud to complete our fourth project with Southern Power and Turner Renewable Energy; longstanding partnerships like this one are critical to SunEdison’s continued growth,” said Bob Powell, President, North America for SunEdison.

Previous projects under the partnership include the 20 MW AC Apex solar farm in Nevada, the 30 MW AC Spectrum project in Nevada, and the 2.5 MW AC Granville generation facility in North Carolina.

Southern California Edison will buy the electricity generated by Adobe Solar Facility under a 20-year power purchase agreement.

In other recent SunEdison news, the company announced earlier this month it had closed on an initial USD $150 million of a $300 million three-year project finance revolving credit facility with Deutsche Bank Securities, Inc. The funds will support the development and acquisition of new solar projects in the USA and Canada.

“We’re pleased to strengthen our relationship with Deutsche Bank ,” said Ryan Bennett , vice president of project finance, North America , SunEdison . “Deutsche Bank has been a terrific partner for us and we look forward to putting this facility to work as we expand throughout Canada and the United States .”

SunEdison states it has utilized a cumulative $1.2 billion in funds from a prior revolving facility, which financed 325 MW of project development.

In addition to building and managing solar facilities, SunEdison is also a manufacturer and has semiconductor wafer manufacturing facilities in regions throughout the world; including Europe, Malaysia, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea and the United States.
