German home battery system manufacturer sonnen may need to buy a larger trophy cabinet for its headquarters soon – it’s won yet another award.
The company reports it has (again) been selected for the Global Cleantech 100 list. This is the third consecutive year sonnen has made the list, also earning it a “Continued Excellence Award”.
“The Continued Excellence Award is a very special achievement, and proves that our vision of a clean and affordable energy future is recognized internationally to the highest degree,” said Christoph Ostermann, CEO of sonnen GmbH.
The Global Cleantech 100 lists private companies judged likely to make the most significant market impact over the next 5-10 years. Firms included on the latest list were selected from more than 9,900 companies representing 77 countries.
It’s been a very busy and successful January for sonnen. Earlier this month, the company was announced among the winners of the 2017 Zayed Future Energy Prize, taking out the Small/Medium Enterprise (SME) category and scooping up a huge prize purse of US$1.5 million.
These two latest accolades add to previous recognition; including listing in MIT Technology Review’s “50 Smartest Companies 2016”, winning Greentech Media’s 2016 Grid Edge Award for innovation, and Cleantech’s 2015 Company of the Year Award in Israel and Europe.
As well as overseas, the company’s battery systems have been generating interest in Australia among solar owners looking to get the most from their valuable rooftop-generated solar electricity and Australians installing solar panels for the first time.
