Regulus Solar Power Station Now Operational

SunEdison Regulus Solar Farm

SunEdison, Inc. (NYSE: SUNE) has announced completion and commencement of operation of the 81.6 MW Regulus solar facility in Kern County, California.

One of SunEdison’s largest utility scale solar power plants in California to date, the facility is comprised of approximately 250,000 SunEdison Silvantis solar panels. SunEdison Services will continue to provide ongoing operation and maintenance of the project and the company’s yieldco, TerraForm Power (Nasdaq: TERP), has acquired the facility.

SunEdison says the Regulus project is anticipated to generate almost USD $184 million in revenue to local businesses, governments and households during the facility’s first 20 years of operation.

“Regulus is another SunEdison success story in the California utility scale solar market and is an important contributor to the state’s RPS goals,” said Paul Gaynor, Executive Vice President, North America Utility and Global Wind for SunEdison.

Another recent, albeit much smaller, SunEdison installation gaining attention this week is a 677 kilowatt ground-mount solar photovoltaic (PV) system constructed to provide electricity for AT&T’s materials distribution facility in Lancaster, Texas.

2,000 SunEdison solar panels power the project, one of a series SunEdison has carried out for the telecommunications company since 2010. Combined, AT&T and SunEdison’s fleet of solar energy projects have generated over 8.6 million kWh of clean electricity and avoided the generation of more than 5,896 tonnes of carbon emissions.

By the end of 2013, AT&T’s  alternative energy portfolio included 4.4 megawatts of solar installations and 15.4 megawatts of onsite fuel cell power from Bloom Energy servers.

In other recent SunEdison news, the company reported its fourth quarter and full year 2014 results.

During Q4, the company completed a record 383 MW of installations, bringing the year to 1,048 MW capacity installed.. SunEdison said it has grown its pipeline to 5.1 GW and its backlog to 2.6 GW.

The company says it will release its 2015 first quarter and full year outlook along with strategy commentary and 2015 business plan at its Capital Markets Day on February 24, 2015.  The event will begin at 9:00 a.m. USA Eastern Time. A live webcast will be streamed at www.sunedison.com and available for replay from the site until April 24, 2015.
