Solar battery rebates (scheme) in ACT
The ACT Government set a goal in 2016 to source all of the electricity in the Territory from renewable sources. The ACT Government is offering schemes to encourage ACT households to install solar and home batteries to meet this goal.

The Next Gen program no longer accepts rebate applications as it has accomplished its goal of 5,000 batteries in Canberran homes and businesses.

Sustainable Household Scheme
Homeowners can continue to get government assistance through the Sustainable Household Scheme, which gives homeowners access to zero-interest loans to renovate their properties sustainably.
To aid with the costs of energy-efficient renovations, this program offers zero-interest loans. Brighte is the alliance partner and the program’s loan provider.
You may be qualified for a loan between $2,000 and $15,000. The loan can be repaid over a maximum of ten years.
These include:
- rooftop solar panels
- household battery storage systems
- electric heating and cooling systems
- hot water heat pumps (HWHP)
- electric stove tops
- electric vehicles (cars)
- electric vehicle charging infrastructure
- installation costs for these products.
You may install a single product or a collection of products from the list of approved items at any time during the duration of the program. These can be valued at up to $15,000 when combined.
Depending on your loan application credit check results, you may borrow more than $15,000. Any additional money borrowed may be subject to interest fees from the loan issuer.
The program is accepting new applications.
Enphase Battery: Store solar power anytime—at night or during peak hours to reduce energy bills or when an outage and utility power is unavailable.
Other incentives
The rebates and schemes are designed to make it more affordable for homeowners to install these systems and to encourage more people to invest in renewable energy. The rebates can be combined with other incentives, such as the federal government’s Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs), Feed-in Tariff (FiT) or even the Home Energy Support Program.
