– A team from North Carolina State University has developed a type of photovoltaic leaf cell that mimics the process of photosynthesis
 
– Climate Change Minister Greg Combet caused a storm of controversy after revealing in an interview on the ABC’s 7.30 report that the government would consider alternative energy policy options as well as the development of a carbon price.
 
– Canada’s Motive Industries Inc has built an electric car from composite materials containing hemp.
 
– General Motors in the US has announced it is exploring the possibility of re-using the batteries in applications such as storing electricity from wind and solar power generation
