School solar power components
Energy Matters' selection of components for Australian school solar power systems comes after years extensive testing in the field. Our experts have searched high and low for minimal-maintenance components of the highest quality.
Top quality does not mean the highest price however thanks to our considerable buying power. We can provide your school the very best renewable energy products available in Australia at a pricing point that allows you to get the most from your National Solar Schools Program government grant!

Solar panels
![]() |
Solar panels are the highest priced component in any solar power system
- and also the most critical.
We only use solar panels that will last as long, or even longer than your school's roof! Each panel we provide complies with IEC 61215, which is the International Electrical Commission's standard for Solar Panels and all carry an incredible 25 year guarantee! |
We firmly believe through years of testing there is no difference in quality between solar panels from manufacturers such BP Solar and Chinese manufactured monocrystalline Solarfun and Suntech panels. We also favour monocrystalline over thin film technology for a number of reasons; basically boiling down to quality.
While we're big believers in supporting local industry, even the silicon in "Australian" BP Solar panels is from China!
As we can purchase our panels in quantity direct from the manufacturer without any middlemen, we are able to pass those savings on to schools, meaning you'll get far more for your grant funding!
Solar panels we use in our school packages:
- Suntech 175 watt STP175S-24/Ac - download datasheet (PDF)
- SunPower 215 Solar Panel - download datasheet (PDF)
- Solar Fun - 5" monocrystalline 175 watt - download datasheet (PDF)
Grid connect inverters
![]() |
Inverters convert 12 volt DC electricity generated by a solar panel into
240 volt AC, which can be used directly by equipment and appliances in
your school.
Energy Matters provides top quality inverters, tried and tested for years - and models that provide high reliability, efficiency and ease of use. |
Inverters we use in school solar power systems:
- SMA Sunny Boy 1100 + - download datasheet (PDF)
- SMA Sunny Boy 3300 + - download datasheet (PDF)
- SMA Sunny Mini central 5000 + - download datasheet (PDF)
- Fronius IG Inverter Series (Outdoor Model) - download datasheet (PDF)

With components made of extruded aluminium and stainless steel, plus high corrosion resistance
ensuring a long lifespan, the SunTop III offers a tidy and super strong
mounting solution that can be easily mounted on every kind of roof.
The SunTop III solar mounting system is favoured by many professional grid connect solar installers. |

Wiring and connections
We simply refuse to cut corners on quality when it comes to wiring and fuses - we only use the best in order to ensure that no component in the system becomes a point of potential failure.
