Heating and cooling your home with Latento and Sunda 

With a Latento and Sunda solar hydronic system you can not only heat water with solar energy, but your home as well! Slash your water and general heating bills while also reducing your household's carbon emissions!

Latento based solar space heating systems contain the following components:

Sunda evacuated tube solar thermal collectors

An evacuated tube collector is placed on the roof of a building to capture the sun's rays. The Sunda collector array consists of a series of tubes in which special fluid is heated by the sun. The increased surface area of an evacuated tube collector makes it highly efficient and capable of heating water even on cool and cloudy days. Sunda's industry leading systems make already efficient evacuated tube technology even better suited to the task of solar space heating.

Latento hot water storage system

When the fluid in the evacuated tube system has reached the desired temperature, it's automatically pumped into a Latento storage tank. Heat exchange mechanisms then heat water within the tank ready for use.

The revolutionary Latento storage system is an unpressurised unit designed so that hot water can be stored for several days. Thanks to the coupling and position of the exchanger, residual energy that is usually not available for heating or hot water can be utilised. 

In addition to multiple heat exchange coils, the Latento unit contains special food grade latent material that "melts" at a temperature of approx. 65 °C. In the process, the latent material absorbs thermal energy without changing the temperature in the storage tank. This material creates a highly efficient insulating layer.

The efficiency of the Latento system means less solar collector surface is required to achieve the same results of other systems.

In the event of extended periods of heavy cloud; a gas or electric boost system ensures hot water is continually available.

Solar space heating - Prineto home systems

Once the water is heated, it can be continuously circulated around your home to warm your entire house through gentle, radiant heat. This can be achieved  using a Prieneto piping system:

While a new home is being constructed, special piping
can be installed below the floor or in the foundations.
Hot water is circulated through the pipes to provide
radiant heat.

A heating system below the floor can also be used for cooling applications during summer.
