NEWSFLASH: For those who purchase solar power systems before January 1, 2014, Tasmania's government is proposing to keep the state's 1:1 feed in tariff in place until 2017. Miss ordering your system and your feed in tariff incentive will likely be lower.

TAS solar bonus scheme: 

Known as a ‘feed in tariff’, you will be paid a 1:1 ratio per kilowatt hour for any excess solar energy you produce that can be fed back into the grid. That means the price the electricity company sells electricity for is the price they will pay you. For systems larger than 3kW, Tasmania’s primary electricity provider, Aurora, should be contacted for the rates, but these should be negotiated for at the same rate as smaller systems.

Federal solar rebate/incentive:

Through the Renewable Energy Target scheme (RET), the Federal Government subsidises the cost of Solar Power Systems according to the energy generated. Energy Matters incorporates the value of these solar credits by providing a discount on the solar power system you purchase. The amount of discount is dependent on the output of the system purchased.
